Pre-Treatment Instructions

Let our office know if you are allergic to bee stings.

  • Plan your appointment with 1-2 weeks of no major events afterwards in case you bruise or swell.

  • Taking blood thinners such as aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, fish oil, vitamin E and vitamin A or consuming alcoholic beverages may cause an increase in the risk of bruising. Please receive physician approval before stopping any prescribed medication.

  • You can consider taking Arnica Montana natural supplement tablets to help bruising (follow the instructions on the bottle). These can be found in many grocery stores and most supplement/health food stores. Arnica cream is also available and can be applied topically after treatment if needed.

  • If you have a history of cold sores notify our office as we may consider prescribing treatment to prevent a flare-up. If you have an active cold sore you will need to reschedule.

  • If you are sick or have an active infection prior to your appointment, call the office to reschedule. We will not inject you if you are sick.

  • Getting fillers while pregnant or breastfeeding requires written approval from your physician.

  • No vaccines of any kind 30 days before or after your filler appointment.

  • No dental work of any kind two weeks before or after your appointment to reduce the risk of an infection. This includes routine cleanings.

Aftercare Instructions

The most common side effects following filler treatment includes temporary reactions at the treatment site such as tenderness, swelling, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising. These side effects usually last 14 days or less based on clinical trials.  If you are taking medications that prolong bleeding (such as aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or warfarin) you may experience increased bruising or bleeding at treatment sites.

During the first 4 hours following treatment, remain in an upright position.  Do not lay flat or rest your head.  Do not put pressure on the treatment areas as the filler requires a few days to “set” properly.

Please sleep on your back (not on an area where filler was placed) for a few nights to give the filler time to set and not be flattened or moved around with pressure during sleep.

Do not apply ice or massage the injected area, unless advised to by your nurse injector.

Within the first 24 hours, you should minimize strenuous exercise and exposure to extensive sun or heat. Exposure to any of the above may increase temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection site(s).

Lumps and bumps can be normal during the healing process, often these resolve over the first couple of weeks. We will evaluate any that remain at your two week follow up appointment. After this time, if lumps remain that are noticeable or bothersome, please schedule an appt to be seen at Amplify Aesthetics.

Refrain from additional aesthetics procedures (chemical peels, laser treatments, microneedling, etc.) for a minimum of two weeks or until the injection sites are fully healed.

Call 911 immediately if you have: 1) Changes in your vision 2) Signs of a stroke (including sudden difficulty speaking, numbness or weakness in your face, arms, or legs, difficulty walking, face drooping, severe headache, dizziness, or confusion)

Call Amplify Aesthetics if you experience: 1) Significant pain away from the injection site 2) Any redness and/or visible swelling that lasts for more than a few days 3) Any side effect that occurs weeks or months after treatment 4) Unusually white appearance of the skin 5) Unusual pain during or shortly after treatment. 6) Any skin trauma or injury near the injection site 7) Any other symptoms that cause you concern

You may need more than one treatment to achieve your desired outcome. Furthermore, while individual time frames vary, repeat treatments are usually needed between 6 months and 1 year to maintain your desired result.
